Yarn Enhancement

Wednesday, July 25, 2007

A lady at my stitch n bitch decided to de-stash and I was able to score some yarn! I got 12 balls of Tahki Tweedy Cotton Classic, enough to really make something nice. Another ball of the same in a different color. I got some Filatura di Crosa Primo that will be great for some socks. I got enough to make something bigger, but not sure what else would work with the color I got. I also got some cream colored silk (a small amount that I could mix with something else for a striped hat or something). And I got a bunch of hand-spun, hand-dyed wool in deep blues and purples. It’s so pretty and warm. I think I have enough for a sweater, but I’ll have to pull the hanks out and measure it because I have no idea how many yards is really in there. Maybe this is an excuse to get that swift I’ve been wanting. When I get time to take some pictures, I’ll definitely post them.

I Can Keep the Yarn!

Thursday, July 12, 2007

I have an awesome husband. I do. I bought all the yarn I will need for my bearclaw blanket, but after I ordered it I wasn’t sure about the colors, so I ordered more in a different color, thinking I could decide once I got it and then send back what I didn’t want. Well, when I told my DH, he said to just keep it!! Imagine that! He actually told me to keep the yarn. Of course, now I have to figure out what to knit with 765 yds of fingering weight 100% cotton besides socks. LOL!

A Bearclaw Project

Friday, July 6, 2007

I’m nuts! I just ordered enough Jaegar Siena to do the Bear Claw Blanket in the Spring 2005 Issue of Interweave Knits. I’m so looking forward to this project, but I’ll have to wait to start it. I want to get a few promised projects done first. Needing to be finished first are:

  • Amelia’s pinwheel sweater (only 1 sleeve left)
  • Nez’s pedisocks (just cast on)
  • Nez’s afghan (still need to purchase yarn!)
  • Dad’s socks (haven’t started)

I don’t think it will take me too long to finish the sweater and the pedisocks, so the afghan and dad’s socks are probably the ones that will hold me back some. But oh well.

What To Do with Pronto

Monday, July 2, 2007

A long time ago, I worked on a cabled shell for my mom using Berroco Pronto. But I didn’t like the cables and I didn’t like how it turned out. Mom didn’t mind so I ripped it back and the yarn has been sitting in the bin for probably a year now. I’ve been wondering what to make with it. I was going to make a sweater, but realized I didn’t have enough yarn. I started looking at the free patterns and I think I have decided to do the Missy jumper. I have enough yarn (even to do the largest size), it’s a simple enough pattern and it will look cute on Amelia.

Too Much Yarn!

Wednesday, May 30, 2007

I’m so bad. Ever since I joined Ravelry, I’ve been going nuts on new projects. I bought the Peruvian wool from elann for Amelia’s Pinwheel Jacket. It’s on order. I’ve just now bought some Knit Picks Swish Superwash for some socks for my sister. And I’ve also bought 2 skeins of Socks that Rock. I plan on using one for Jaywalkers and another for Anastasia Socks. Can’t wait to get started on all my new projects. Am I getting in over my head again? Most likely, but I’m loving it. I’m hoping the elann yarn gets here today or tomorrow so I can cast on this weekend. It’s a long weekend for us Alabama state workers (Jefferson Davis Birthday). LOL! I think I will have to make a quick stop at the LYS (if they are open) to pick up some needles. Not sure I have circulars long enough. Definitely don’t have any long enough for the magic loop that I want to try on the socks.
