I’ve printed out some patterns for baby caps and booties…so I can start making a few for my baby. I can’t wait. I even have plenty of scrap yarn to use. Since the baby is due in Oct, I even found a pattern for a little hat that looks like a candy corn. It’s the cutest thing.
Besides the hats, I have a goal to try to finish my 2nd sock this weekend. If it doesn’t get finished, I’m dedicating next weekend to getting it done. DH is going camping with the guys, so I’ll have the house to myself. I’m sure I can find time to at least work on it and maybe get the heel turned.

Here’s the 3rd neckwarmer finished. Kimberly’s coat is blue so I made it to match. I gave it to her last night and she loved it.

Why? you might ask. Last year, I gave my sister a scarf during the summer months. Then she was living in Texas and could have used it a few times in the winter. But she graduated in December and moved to Tampa. So of course, she had no need for a scarf, especially one that was wool blend. But…
She’s currently spending the holidays in Spain with her boyfriend, and in her recent email, she said she’s using the scarf every time she steps out the door because it’s so cold over there. I was so excited to hear this, I cheered out loud when I read her email. And that’s why I’m so silly! It’s such a great feeling to know people are using the items you lovingly knit for them. After I made her the scarf, I was kind of sad thinking she’d never use it…after all, why would you need a scarf in Tampa? But the opportunity arrived and she’s definitely putting it to good use. Hurray!

The doily I’m working on has 22 rounds. I was about to start round 14 when I realized round 13 wasn’t correct. As I kept checking, I noticed I messed up pretty big. I ended up having to rip back to round 8! Yikes. Now I’ve successfully fixed rounds 8, 9 and 10 and am waiting for my afternoon break to start on round 11 once again. I think I’ve done this like 4 times already. Hopefully I’ll pay more attention to the pattern and what I’m doing so I don’t have to go through this again. After each round I count the stitches to make sure I have what the pattern says I should. So that I know up to that round everything is correct. So hmm, instead of working rounds 14, 15 and 16, I’m back at 11. Will this thing get finished before Christmas? That remains to be seen.
Last night I also worked on the neckwarmer. I’m doing a rib pattern that is pretty cool. The pattern stitch is a multiple of 6 and is worked over 24 rows. I did two pattern repeats last night. I had originally chosen a different stitch pattern, but didn’t like how it was coming out in that yarn, so I started over with the current stitch pattern. It’s really coming out nicely. I’m not sure how many more repeats I will need to do to complete the neckwarmer, so I don’t know if I’ll get finished tonight, but I will be working on it. Maybe I can get two more repeats done. I anticipate finishing it sometime this weekend.

Anyone who does a craft gets something just right that everyone has to have. For some people it’s socks, others make dishcloths, yet others make scarves or hats or mitts. For me, it’s neckwarmers. I made one for a friend who requested it. My DH liked it so much I ended up making him one. Now the friend’s wife wants her own. Well, actually it’s probably the friend who wants me to make one for his wife, so she’ll quit borrowing his. LOL! So I’ll be making another neckwarmer in the coming weeks. I hope to have it done by Christmas so it can be her present. I’ve got the yarn, the needles and the stitch pattern picked out. I just need to figure out how wide to make it and get started. They are so simple, they can be whipped up in no time and apparently they are a success! Makes me smile when someone appreciates my handiwork enough to request something. Makes me feel like I’m not doing so bad after all.
