The tunisian dishcloth is finished. I really like how it came out. I bound off using a single crochet and followed through by doing sc around the rest of the edges. I think I’m really going to like using this dishcloth in the kitchen. :)

I made a dishcloth this past weekend. No, I didn’t post a picture of it. I used a pattern found at Dishcloth Boutique and it went pretty quickly. I had it done in a couple of hours. I immediately started using it. When my DH came home from his camping trip I showed him what I’d done. Now he refuses to use it. He says it’s too pretty. I tried to use it to wipe up a spill this morning and he tossed it aside and grabbed a paper towel. I told him I’d made it to use, but he insists it’s too pretty to use. At least he likes some of what I’m knitting.

Well, my adventure in teaching mom to knit didn’t go as well as I’d hoped. She had a hard time grasping it. She was able to cast on great. But just couldn’t get the knit stitch. She tried and tried and just wasn’t getting it. So she gave up for now. She said when she has a little more time, when she gets home, she’s going to try again. She was also amazed at how quickly I picked it up. It’s interesting how history repeats itself. She taught her mother to crochet. And there I was trying to teach her to knit. She knew how to do it, but just couldn’t make her hands do what she wanted them to. I even showed her by doing it myself slowly and she watched a little video of someone doing it while explaining how. She also looked at diagrams, so she knew what she was supposed to do. Just couldn’t do it. We tried several different needles to see if they would help, but it didn’t make any difference. Oh well, she was still appreciative that I tried to teach her and said she wouldn’t give up completely just yet.
Besides teaching mom, I finished her dishcloth. I also worked a little on my sister’s scarf and got a good bit done on the second sleeve of Chamomile. I’ve decided I’m not going to start anything new just yet. I want to finish what I’m working on currently. I’ve still got 1/2 of my crochet afghan to do, so I’m going to work on those. Maybe once I got the scarf done and a few more afghan squares out of the way, I’ll start my sleeveless top.

Here is my dishcloth. It’s not quite finished yet, but I thought I’d post a pic anyway. I’m making this one for mom for her birthday since she is the one that gave me the booklet with the patterns. I’m also going to start her out making one of the dishcloths in the book. It has 16 patterns and most them are pretty simple pattern repeats. Why all the photos now? My hubby is going on his canoe trip this weekend and he might be taking all the camera batteries, so I won’t be able to take any photos for the week that he’ll be gone. So I’m trying to get in all the photos I want before he leaves on Saturday.

I’m almost done with Sigma. I’ve got a few ends to weave in then I have to do the crochet edge and block it. It feels good to be this close to finished. I can’t wait to be done. I’ll post pics after it’s completed. I also worked on Chamomile some this weekend. I am just about to the top shaping of the first sleeve. I would have done more, but I wanted to get Sigma done. And I cast on for a dishcloth that I’m going to make for my mom. She got me the booklet with 16 patterns so I decided to make the first one for her. I’m using Sugar and Cream cotton in a coral mix of colors. Real pretty.
