About
I’ve been knitting since January 2004, but took most of 2006 off during my pregnancy. I still consider myself a beginner, but I’m trying to learn more with each project. I’m not as scared to try something new. I also learned to crochet at the same time I learned to knit. So I pretty much have at least one knit and one crochet project going all the time.
I have one daughter, Amelia, and she is my world. I’ve been married for 7 years to my college sweetheart and we have two dogs and a few fish. I work full-time as a software developer coding Visual Basic .NET for a state agency and although I enjoy it, I’d rather be doing something else that doesn’t involve computers or staying home with my little girl.
I’ve just gotten hooked on socks and although I still haven’t made too many, I’m really having fun with it. I knit my daughter a cardigan and something happened to me as a knitter. I felt I’d come into my own as a knitter. I managed to knit a cardigan with inset pockets and a zipper! I sewed sleeves and seams. It came out gorgeous, albeit, a bit big on her. But since that great accomplishment, I’ve really felt like no project is out of my skill level. I feel like I can attempt anything, well, anything except steeks.
I also recently learned to spin. And for Mother’s Day my husband gifted me with a Kromski Prelude spinning wheel.
