I’ve decided to make my own stitch markers. I’ve been browsing etsy for them and am totally in love. But I want to try to make them myself instead of just buying some. So besides continuing to organize the craft room this weekend, I’ll be trying to make stitch markers.
I have to go to Hobby Lobby anyway this evening for a crochet hook and I have a coupon for 25% off, so I’m going to see what they have.

I will be able to finish Smitten sooner than I thought. I’m sure I mentioned before that this project went on hold because Knit Picks was out of the dune twist colorway of Wool of the Andes till Jan 31. Well, I just checked their website and they have it in stock. I just ordered 2 more skeins and as soon as it is in, I will be able to finish Amelia’s cardigan. I’m so excited. I can’t wait for it to get here. With a bit of diligence, I might just have it finished by Jan 31. If I focus, I know I can get the last piece done in one evening, then commit the next evening to seaming it and setting it out to block. So possibly 2-3 more evenings of work once the yarn arrives.
Everyone, please pray that these skeins will not be too different from my current ones since it’s going to be a different dye lot.

My first fair-isle project. I did the chart 2 times and still missed a row, but if you don’t know the pattern, you’d never know that something isn’t right. I like it and enjoyed working on it. My stitches are pretty uneven for the most part. It wasn’t til the last few rows that I finally figured out the best way to carry both yarns (in one hand).
I need to get more skilled at continental knitting before I try two handed fair-isle. But this isn’t bad for my first go at it. This picture doesn’t show it, but the top is sort of pointy, so I’m going to add a pompom using both colors.

I actually had a chance to work on some of the granny squares for my gingham and ruffles afghan. Woohoo! Last night at my SnB, I crocheted about 4-5 squares. It’s not much, but it’s major progress compared to what I’ve been doing. I definitely think it will be one of my primary projects to take and work on.

A while back I purchased 5 balls of Jaegar Siena then decided I didn’t like that color for the project I was doing. DH said to just keep the yarn instead of sending it back. So I kept it but didn’t really know what to do with it. I think I’ve figured it out. I plan to try it on the Weave-It loom. I know it’s fingering weight, but if it works, I plan to make as many squares as I can then sew them together to make a baby blanket. I say baby, because I doubt it will be any bigger with the amount of yarn I have and as much as the Weave-it uses to make a square. It will be a loose weave, as the loom works best with DK weight yarn, but here in the south, it should be just fine.
In addition to that, I just bought some Classic Elite Miracle in Cuban Sunset and Pressed Olive. I think it’s going to look fabulous when worked up. I’m planning on using it to make a bunch of squares on the Weave-It then sew them together as well.
So lots of projects on the horizon for 2008. :)
