Motif Book: Hexagon Blanket
8 September 2007 – 7:59 amMy japanese motif book has arrived. Now I just have to really figure out what colors I want to make my hexagon blanket. I’ve looked over the pattern and I don’t think it will be too hard. It’s primarily charts and pictures so even though I don’t know japanese, I shouldn’t have any trouble working through it.
The pattern calls for 7 different colors and gives a chart for which color combinations to work for each hexagon, so once I figure out what colors I want, I’ll chart out my color combinations. I was originally thinking I’d only work with 4 colors and that will do if I decide on just 4 colors. But now that I’ve seen the pattern, I like the idea of using 7 colors. So now I’m not sure what I’ll do.
I can’t exactly afford the yarn right now anyway, so it will have to wait, but that’s okay. I need to finish up a few projects before I jump into this one. And it gives me some time to decide what colors I want while I work on other stuff.
I’ve heard it recommends DK weight yarn, so I’ll have to do some searching to find a fairly inexpensive DK yarn in the colors I want. Fortunately, I don’t need too many balls of each color. But I definitely want something that will be machine washable, since it’s an afghan.
