Pedisock Analysis

Thursday, July 12, 2007

I’m just about done with the first of the pedisocks pair. I don’t really like that particular heel style. It looks fine and when I block them it will probably look better, but I’m just not thrilled with how it turns out. After looking at other FOs on Ravelry it seems like my ribbing is too big. Like longer than the 1 inch that the pattern says to knit. I just measured it again and it’s about 1/8 of an inch too long. Oh well. I just have to make sure the 2nd sock is the same…I’ll count rows and do the same # so it will match. :) At least the recipient likes them so far. She’s thrilled and can’t wait to wear them. I tried the one on and it’s pretty comfy. ;)

I Can Keep the Yarn!

Thursday, July 12, 2007

I have an awesome husband. I do. I bought all the yarn I will need for my bearclaw blanket, but after I ordered it I wasn’t sure about the colors, so I ordered more in a different color, thinking I could decide once I got it and then send back what I didn’t want. Well, when I told my DH, he said to just keep it!! Imagine that! He actually told me to keep the yarn. Of course, now I have to figure out what to knit with 765 yds of fingering weight 100% cotton besides socks. LOL!

Heel Turn

Monday, July 9, 2007

I’m at the heel turn of the first pedisock. I showed my sister my progress yesterday and she loves it so far. They are going pretty quick since the cuff is only 3″. She pretty much only wears ankle socks. I just have to find time to work on it. I wasn’t able to do any knitting yesterday since I spent the whole day with her (it’s about a 3 hr drive one way). And during the week, I only get maybe 2 hours of knitting time after Amelia goes to bed. So even though it’s a quick knit, it’s taking me a while cause I just don’t get that much time to knit.

I’ve also made some progress on the 2nd sleeve of Amelia’s sweater. I think I’m about 8 inches away from being finished. I’m looking forward to being done, just because it feels so good to finish a project. :)

A Bearclaw Project

Friday, July 6, 2007

I’m nuts! I just ordered enough Jaegar Siena to do the Bear Claw Blanket in the Spring 2005 Issue of Interweave Knits. I’m so looking forward to this project, but I’ll have to wait to start it. I want to get a few promised projects done first. Needing to be finished first are:

  • Amelia’s pinwheel sweater (only 1 sleeve left)
  • Nez’s pedisocks (just cast on)
  • Nez’s afghan (still need to purchase yarn!)
  • Dad’s socks (haven’t started)

I don’t think it will take me too long to finish the sweater and the pedisocks, so the afghan and dad’s socks are probably the ones that will hold me back some. But oh well.

Pedisocks on the Needles

Friday, July 6, 2007

Last night I cast on the pedisocks for my sister. Wow, they are coming along pretty fast. 44 stitches knitting around goes pretty quick. Granted, I had to rip back a few rows, but I think they will go fast. I’m alternating colors every row so that keeps it entertaining enough and since it’s my first time doing colorwork like this, I’m having fun watching the stripes emerge. I really hope my sis likes them too. I’ll get a picture this weekend of my progress.
