Knitting on Hold
Monday, July 30, 2007I think my knitting might be on hold for a few days. I just received a copy of Harry Potter (the final year) from a co-worker who is letting me borrow it. woohoo! So I’ll be busy reading for a while. :)

The new place is up. Not everything is perfect yet, but I’m getting there. If you find any major glitches, please leave a comment or send me an email.
Comments haven’t been moved over. Fortunately there aren’t too many so maybe I’ll be able to figure out how to migrate them over using phpMyAdmin and some sql queries.
I’m having a blast working on the bearclaw blanket. I’m almost done with the center squares. The whole thing is garter stitch which makes it go pretty quick, even though I’m working on size 3 needles.
A lady at my stitch n bitch decided to de-stash and I was able to score some yarn! I got 12 balls of Tahki Tweedy Cotton Classic, enough to really make something nice. Another ball of the same in a different color. I got some Filatura di Crosa Primo that will be great for some socks. I got enough to make something bigger, but not sure what else would work with the color I got. I also got some cream colored silk (a small amount that I could mix with something else for a striped hat or something). And I got a bunch of hand-spun, hand-dyed wool in deep blues and purples. It’s so pretty and warm. I think I have enough for a sweater, but I’ll have to pull the hanks out and measure it because I have no idea how many yards is really in there. Maybe this is an excuse to get that swift I’ve been wanting. When I get time to take some pictures, I’ll definitely post them.
I really hope Amelia likes knitted clothes. I have amassed quite a few garments in my ravelry queue that I’d like to make for Amelia. Right now she’s too young to tell me whether she likes or doesn’t like an outfit, but hopefully whatever I do make will be to her satisfaction.
Speaking of knitted garments, I pulled out my knitted socks the other day when my feet were cold and wore them around the house. I have no idea what the yarn is (have since lost the ball bands and memory is horrible), but I swear, it’s like the socks get more comfy with each wear and wash. It’s pretty cool. Every time I wear them, I like them even more. But they are still a little bulky to wear with shoes. So I just wear them around the house. I have a feeling they will get a lot more wear this winter than last.
