Brightly Colored Dad

Wednesday, May 23, 2007

I was showing my dad the Lapghan I knit a while back and he said I needed to make 3 more just like it and piece them together to make a really big afghan. I have thought about making another one but making more longer strips. He thought this was a wonderful idea, but he wanted me to use bright reds and oranges. He apparently loves those bright colors that normally people wouldn’t put together, especially for an afghan that is going on the living room couch. Now I know why my mom crocheted the blanket they have in their living room in the colors that she did. He requested it that way! Of course, now he’s got me really wanting to make another one of those blankets.

Afghan is Being Stripped

Wednesday, May 23, 2007

My crochet Autumn Afghan is being stripped. :) Four strips done, three more to go!

Afghan Strips

The seams are not perfect, but in this picture you can’t tell. Woohoo! They look so much better in this picture than they do in real life. I look forward to getting them finished. Hopefully this weekend.

Knit Books

Wednesday, May 23, 2007

I went out at lunch and bought a new knitting book. I’ve been wanting this book for a while because of several patterns. It’s the Mason-Dixon Knitting and I’d love to make the Log Cabin Blanket, the Moderne Log Cabin Blanket, the Ball Band Dishcloth, the Great Bathmat and possibly a few others. I also ordered Last-Minute Knitted Gifts and it’s already shipped. There are a few items in there that I’m already eyeing, such as the Soft Drawstring Pouch and the Sweater and Stocking Minis. Those will definitely be great teacher gifts for Christmas. Now I just need to finish a few of my current projects so I can get started on some of the ones in these two books. LOL!

Needle Inventory

Tuesday, May 22, 2007

I took the time to inventory all my knitting needles and crochet hooks. I added them all to my “ravelry”:http://www.ravelry.com notebook. I am coveting a set of Denise Interchangeables. Hoping to get them for my birthday. If not, I may have to just get them for myself. :)

Squares Become an Afghan

Sunday, May 20, 2007

You heard me right! I’m putting together the squares for my crochet afghan. The one from eons ago Tri-Color Yarn that I’ve procrastinated piecing together because I knew the squares were uneven. At some point I did a really good job of blocking them all to the right size, so the piecing is going well. And fortunately, I’m using a yarn that doesn’t show the seams or anything (Lion Brand Homespun), so it’s not so noticeable. Sure you will be able to tell that some squares are smaller than others, but oh well. it’s hand made and one of the first projects I started on back in 2004. I’m just so glad to be working on it and knowing that it will be done soon it’s such a wonderful feeling. I will definitely post pics once it’s done! But it already feels like a major accomplishment.
