I’ve been mulling over in my head the idea of getting back to Chamomile. I’ve just about finished the legwarmers. I’ve got about 5-6 inches left to knit, then I have to weave in ends. All I have left on the baby blanket is to weave in ends. So if I could get those out of the way this weekend (in addition to working on my quilt piece for Maggie), then maybe I’ll tackle Chamomile. I’m pretty convinced I’m going to start over on the front and once I get to the stockinette (after about 10 rows of ribbing), I’m going to recheck my gauge. I really think my knitting has come a long ways since I began and I realized a while back that my front piece was much larger than than the pattern says it should be. When I began Chamomile, I was using US 9/10 because I knit tight. I’ve gotten a little better and more comfortable with the needles, so I think I will have to go back down to the size the pattern actually calls for - US7/8. Yep, I had to go up two sizes. So I think the best course of action is to rip the front and start over making sure I’m using the correct needles for gauge. Or heck. I might skip it a little while longer and get that darn sweater of my mom’s finished. I’ve not had too much fun with cables for some reason. Maybe it’s just this sweater…but it seems wrong to me that the pattern calls for identical front and back…which means a cable going down the middle of the back panel. Blah! Well, maybe it won’t looks so bad once it’s done…but I really think it’s just going to look like it’s being worn backwards. Eik!

I’m working on weaving in the ends of my legwarmer. I’m almost done with the second one, but I decided to get started on the tails. But I knew I was doing something wrong, because it just didn’t seem quite right. I found an article at Knitty.com and it just finally made sense to me what was going on. I followed Theresa’s instructions and wow! It makes sense and you can barely tell that there is a seam. So seams don’t seem so daunting anymore. Hurray! I can seam without the headaches. Of course it helps to use a needle instead of a crochet hook. I don’t know why (I guess I was still partially asleep), but this morning when I was grabbing my knitting stuff to take to work (I worked on it during my lunch break), I grabbed a crochet hook instead of a weaving needle. Duh! Anyway, I got part of it done and will finish the rest hopefully tonight. I’m so excited now that I know the correct way to weave in those ends.

For a long time I was wracked with guilt over my growing list of UFOs, but while visiting family last week for Thanksgiving, I finally realized that it really is ok to have UFOs. My sister-in-law told me she couldn’t even count the number she had so many. And I’ve known for years that mom and grandma had a good number of projects that were ongoing. But with my own guilt and my husband giving me a hard time, I kept feeling increasingly like I wasn’t an active enough person. What was wrong with me…never finishing a project. But I’m slowly starting to realize that it’s all part of being a knitter, quilter, crocheter, etc. You will always have _at least_ 3 UFOs tucked away somewhere waiting to be pulled out and finally completed. I don’t feel so bad now. It really is okay.

I’ve completed legwarmer #1. AND, I’ve started on legwarmer #2. And I have a good feeling about this little project. It will be done in no time. I’m excited to have started the second leg and will definitely be posting a pic as soon as they are done.
