Lapghan Strips

Here’s the promised photo of my completed strips. Yeah…finally a picture. It’s amazing. I finally have something to show. For some reason with these two strips the blocks in the middle came out the same, but the end blocks are uneven when I put them together. The cream block on strip A is shorter than strip B, but it’s the reverse for the blue block. It’s shorter on strip B, when I place them one on top of the other. Who knows why. But I’ll make it work when I sew them together.

Strip Two Complete

Wednesday, September 22, 2004

I finished the 2nd strip for my country lapghan last night and started on strip three. This one will be neat because the color sequence is slightly different. I’m doing 2 strips each of 2 sequences and 1 strip of the third sequence. I did the last 2 the same so this one will look a bit different. I look forward to getting it complete. It’s simple mindless knitting, so I’m having a great time with it. I’ll post pictures tonight of my 2 completed strips. I snapped them this morning, but didn’t have enough time to post them before heading out to work.

The plan is to complete this project, then finish my other afghan, which I’ve got about 9 squares left to crochet, then piece it together. Once those are done, I’ll only have my socks and Chamomile left. I think that will make it less daunting. I don’t know why I’m so hesitant to finish Chamomile, because my sleeves turned out so much better than I was expecting. I get so proud every time I look at them and I’m amazed that they turned out identical, since they were my first and I did them separately. But working on the afghan has definitely sparked my interest. I’m not going to overwhelm myself though. I think that is what got me so burned out to begin with. So I’m just going to work on what I’ve started and get those finished in an even steady progress. Then start on some of the other projects I’ve got waiting in the wings. I’m not going to overwhelm myself though. I have yarn and a pattern for a sleeveless top, but it may have to wait till next spring. With it being the first day of fall, I’m starting to get that itchy need to have a sweater. Good incentive to finish Chamomile, and my afghans so I can start on my Dolman sweater. I also would like to see a completed pair of socks. This pair has been put on hold, partly I think, because I’m doing them on dpns. I hate working with them, but amazingly my sock is coming out just fine and I had no problems with the heel. I just followed the pattern and it came out pretty well. I have only to finish the foot and close the toe for the first sock to be complete. But God, how I hate those dpns.

Wow, It’s Been a Long Time

It’s been a while since I posted. I’ve been so busy, that I haven’t had much time to knit lately. With 2 hurricanes hitting Florida within a month, things have been pretty hectic. No, they haven’t hit me, but 98% of my family lives in Florida, so some of them were bound to get hit. I’ve started back up some and I hope to get back to it regularly. I haven’t really made much progress on anything beyond the one strip of my country afghan. But hopefully I can get on the ball again. I just wanted to post that I haven’t forgotten about this website. It’s just been a crazy summer. My regular blog hasn’t had many updates either lately. Hopefully that will change.
